The conference is “an annual event focused on bringing education, connection, and hope to the entire Duchenne community,” according to its sponsor, CureDuchenne.
The conference will take place Friday, April 21 through Sunday, April 23, 2023, with a welcome reception on Thursday, April 20. It will be hosted at the Marriott Marquis & Marina in San Diego, California.
The theme for this event is “BRIGHT FUTURES, placing importance on the acceleration of critical research, improvement of care and quality of life for all, and fostering a community that supports one another and takes on the future together.”

The conference is family-friendly, with a focus on community building, in addition to science and research. It includes daily childcare and offers a gaming lounge for younger attendees and hangouts for adults (16 years or older) with DMD.
According to the current agenda, Friday will focus on “CURE” and feature cutting-edge research including sessions on gene therapy and gene editing, RNA-based therapeutics, and muscle restoration, as well as anti-inflammatory treatments.
Saturday’s theme is “CARE” and focuses on clinical care and mental health. It will have breakout sessions devoted to caregivers of DMD patients of different ages. Sunday will be a community-focused day with brunch by geographical regions, a panel to discuss things that can be done as a DMD community, and several family-focused breakout sessions.
Adults with DMD and children under the age of 16 years can attend the conference in person free of charge. In-person registration is $50 for adults until March 6, 2023, after which it will increase to $100. Virtual registration is free of charge.
Financial assistance is also available on a first-come, first-served basis and will be provided on a case-by-case basis. The assistance can include discounted registration fees, hotel rooms, and flights to/from the conference.
