Gerardo Estrada was diagnosed with pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) on October 17, 2017, a day etched in his memory. That diagnosis changed his life—from his diet and exercise regimen to an attitude change motivated by his drive to face his disease head-on and refuse to let it beat him. A West Coast dweller, he and his wife, Jennifer, have been married for 20 years. They are the parents of a son, Vincent (“Big Vin”), and a daughter, Laureen (“LuLu”). While Gerardo understands that currently there is no cure for PAH, he says “with the support of my wife and kids, I am going to do everything I can to fight it.”
